Introduction

Whether you use a computer, a typewriter, or paper and pencil, you need to keep track of your manuscripts. You can't just toss everything you've ever written, every contract you've ever signed, and every contributor's copy you've ever received, into a box and be done with it. Nor can you rely on your memory, especially if you've got a lot of stories and articles going at once. You need to find some other way to manage your manuscripts.
