What's happened to all of the Vilma Banky films?

Vilma's first appearance in films was in 1920. For the most part, her films from 1920 - 1925, except for a few fragments, and some of her American films also, are lost. Just like many other silent movie stars' films, people did not see that saving these films for future generations was important. Vilma's Hungarian films are lost for the main reason of war and neglect. Hungary produced many wonderful silent films in the early years, but war slowed down production to nothing. Sadly, only 5% of Hungarian silent films exist today. Only a handful of Hungarian pictures have survived through the years.

<--- Don't be sad, Vilma!
