Oughterside Band has seen many changes over the years:
At one time arround 1970 they joined in with Beacon Hill School in Aspatria and became The 'Centre Band'. Beacon Hill School were given brass instruments from the old Aspatria Band
Music teacher Berkley Squire who taught music at the school took charge of the band and concerts and bookings gave them a new lease of life.
Woodwind instruments joined in too bringng the school band and the brass band together under one roof in Beacon Hill School. What happened after this I am not too sure. Can any one help me here?

Christmas time is the tradiional time for playing carols in the local villages. In December 2000 for the first time in six years the band played round the villages of Gilcrux, Plumbland and Prospect.
Over the years they have given many concerts,
played in carnival parades, garden fetes, and church services, err, on the local radio and private funcions.

Yes, they were out again playing around the villages at Christmas time in 2003, raising money for the upkeep of the instruments and a roof over their heads.
