US 29 , FUTURE
&
CORRIDOR IN
NORTH CAROLINA.
North Carolina
has a section of US 29 from I-85 in Greensboro to the Virginia
state line at Danville designated
as a future Interstate corridor when the highway is upgraded to
meet federal Interstate highway standards.
If a section of
US 29 between I-85 to Blairs, Virginia meets Interstate Highway
standards
the highway would be designated as a spur like I-785.
If a section of
US 29 between I-85 in Greensboro to I-64 near Charlottesville or
I-66 at Gainesville,VA
meets Interstate highway standards the highway would be
designated as a main Interstate route like
Interstate 83.
This would be phase 1 & 2 of making I-83.
One section
between Greensboro to the Rockingham-Guilford county line did not
meet
federal interstate highway standards (12-18 miles) was upgraded
in 2004.
Only the section not under Constuction is the I-840/785 loop
around N.E. Greensboro.
