FrameMaker

Creating Paragraph Tags

FrameMaker allows you to format your text in paragraph tags. These tags are used to create every paragraph format you'll need in a document. You can create tags in several ways. The steps I use here are the ones I usually follow. All of the work is done using the Paragraph Designer.

To create paragraph tags:

  1. Select Format > Paragraphs > Designer... from the menu bar.

The Paragraph Designer appears. The designer lists every aspect of paragraph formatting that you can change in FrameMaker on six tabs. Each tab controls different aspects of formatting.

  2. Click the Commands drop down menu and select New Format... from the list.

The New Format box appears. Use this box to define a new paragraph style.

  3. Enter a name for the paragraph tag in the Tag field.
  4. Make sure Store in Catalog is selected.
  5. Make sure Apply to Selection is not selected.
  6. Click Create.

FrameMaker adds the new paragraph tag to the catalog. You can now select the tag and modify it as you need.
