Navigating Hokum

Hokum Home uses a set of tools to find information and move from topic to topic throughout the entire Web site. The following is a brief description of these tools and how to use them.

Navigation Menu.

Provides access to all the major sections of Hokum Home. Use the navigation menu to jump to home pages within Hokum Home, such as the Fiction Writing: Home page, or the Links: Home page. The navigation menu appears on every page in Hokum Home. To use the navigation menu, click on the section you want to jump to.

To Hokum Home.

Jumps back to the Hokum Home main page, the first page in the site. This graphic appears in the top left corner of every page in Hokum Home. To use To Hokum Home, click the graphic.

Title Bar.

Labels the section of Hokum Home that you are currently browsing. The title bar always displays the name of one of the major sections in Hokum Home and is located above the title of a topic.

Related.

Collection of links to material related to a topic you are currently reading. The links are divided into categories that match the major sections in Hokum Home, and include links to external sites. The number and nature of the Related links vary depending on the topic you are currently reading. Related information appears at the very bottom of selected topics.

Browse Buttons.

Provides a browsing sequence for long articles. Beginning from the top, the first graphic represents a jump to another topic within the current article. The second graphic appears when you place your mouse pointer over a browse button to let you know it contains a live hyperlink. The third graphic represents the topic you are currently reading, and its position within the browse sequence. Browse buttons appear just below the content of a topic. Not all pages will have browse buttons. To use the browse buttons, click on the button that corresponds to the topic you want to view.

Link.

Jumps to other pages within Hokum Home or to external sites. To open the link, click on the blue text.

Popup.

Opens a definition popup for new terms used in articles. The definitions can also be found in the Hokum glossaries. To open a definition popup, click the green text.
